Amarillo Flights opening a PPHM!

Grand opening! The Amarillo Flights: Aerial Views of Llano Estacado Country exhibition of my fine art aerial photographs opened July 17 at the Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum #PPHM in Canyon, Texas. The show will run through January 23, 2021. All of thirty-eight color photographs are printed my favorite paper: Red River Paper's Palo Duro SoftGloss rag paper! Red River Paper of Dallas, makers of fine papers for photographers is the exhibition sponsor. The images in the exhibition are from my upcoming book from Texas A&M University Press which is expected to hit the shelves in November! Watch for updates! Amarillo Flights exhibit debuts at PPHM

AMARILLO BY SATURDAY! See you at the opening of the Amarillo Flights exhibition at PPHM. I will be in the gallery this Saturday, July 18 from 1:00-4:00 pm! The museum is open, just bring a mask! The exhibit, “Amarillo Flights: Aerial Views of Llano Estacado Country,” will premiere at Panhandle-Plains Historical Museum in Canyon, Texas. The one-person exhibit will showcase Paul Chaplo's personal aerial photography of the high plains of the Llano Estacado, with a focus on the rugged escarpments and breaks in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. The large format color aerial images are from Chaplo's upcoming book by the same title. The photographs reveal the rugged natural beauty of the landscape and many historic sites such as Horsehead Crossing (where you will see the traces of the old trails!), Adobe Walls Battlefield, Fort Bascom site, Chavez City ruins, and the top of Landergin Mesa—to name a few of the many that will fill the Mary E. Bivins Gallery. I look forward to meeting you, surrounded by Texas-sized pictures where history meets fine art photography! The "Amarillo Flights: Aerial Views of Llano Estacado Country" book is being published by Texas A&M University Press as part of WTAMU's American Wests series. Limited edition photographs, numbered and signed by the artist will be available for purchase. The museum is now open and a face mask is required.
